Urgh self portraits, I find these very hard to take.
I’ll try not to make this yet another moaning about the English weather post but it’s fair to say gray and drizzle sums up our climate at the moment. Now that makes photography difficult but not impossible so I thought I would take the opportunity to practice trying to make this dull lighting look a little more interesting by bringing some shadows into my photos. Trouble is my favourite model is now a school boy and waiting until he comes home would mean all the light has gone. So say hello to the self portrait. Well I learnt loads by taking these so I do recommend you try it but you might want to find a better model as my one was very grumpy!

I also took these photos for my Project 52 photo a week the theme of “Book Title”, can you guess what book I went with? Of course it’s Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier which is the very book I was named after. Well I think it was more Laurence Olivier in the 1940′s Hitchcock film that inspired my Mother so I have converted my photos to monochrome in honour of that.

Laura A - Those are fabulous!! I’m inspired to try some of my own!
Jessica - These are just beautiful! The black and white is perfect.
Carrie Callahan - WOW – great self portraits – they turned out beautiful in black and whites. I have been running from shadows – this makes me want to embrace them. They are great!
Lisa - I think you did an awesome job.
Lisa Sheehan - These are great!! I can never get selfies to look any good
I love the middle one…. very Audrey Hepburn-ish look to your face there! And I love the book *Rebecca*!
Stacey Haslem - You did an amazing job! I love the lighting and the conversion is perfect. I love the book ‘Rebecca’ too!
heidi - These are great!!! I really need to take a new selfie-I am so bad at it though! Your lighting here is so nice!
Ana - I love these, the light is so dreamy and the shadows totally make the shots. Looking good my dear Rebecca.
Catherine R. - Great job on these! And I thought that movie was great–a real classic!
Anna - Becca, you are such a beautiful woman. And not only from the outside, you have also a big big generous heart.
Rebecca is one of my favorite books. Read it several times.
