Mini Me

I try not to take photos of Theo quite as often now he’s getting older, a bit of me is scared that one day he will stop being my perfect little model and will hide when I get out of my camera. At the moment though all is good, I am putting more planning into what I want to shoot and try and get everything ready before my little poser has to do his thing and this seems to be working well. Well when I say I am planning my shoots of course this can only go so far when a 5 year old boy is involved! Take this weekend for example my plan was to try and take some photos of Theo that captured his personality and at the same time try and find a spot in my house that had a nice simple background and some great light. After moving some furniture around I thought I’d found a spot and got Theo to stand there, however it was a very small space and Theo is typically energetic little lad and I had to take my photos quickly before he got bored.  I am so pleased that I managed to capture one great photo of my lad; 5 years old now and such a mixture of innocence and maturity.

Once I could see on my LCD I had at least 1 keeper we switched into plan B, bring in the props! I find if I give Theo something to do during our little photography sessions he has fun and is quite happy for his mad Mother to stalk him with her camera. Today’s prop was an old Brownie camera which doesn’t work and so is perfect as a play thing for a photographer’s son. Seeing how well he posed his teddy I don’t think it will be long before Theo has a camera of his own!

Holly Thompson - Oh Rebecca, these are precious!!! Theo knows all the moves, doesn’t he? He looks quite wise and serious in the first stunning image; then playful and young in the series with teddy. I love these! What a treasure. That spot in your house is fab!!!

Anna - Becca, I love the way you picture Theo’s life. He has a great document in his hands when he is growing older. There is so much love in these pictures. x

Silvia - These are so cute, you really did capture your 5 year old beautifully. It’s so nice that he has an interest in photography already :D

Jessica - These are fantastic. I adore the ones of him shooting the bear!
